Whānau Health Diary gives health marketers, NGOs, DHBs and government agencies a specialised and targeted platform to reach, engage and support Māori and Pacific whānau.
The recent NZ health strategy reiterates the need to make health gains for Māori and Pacific households, who are disproportionally affected by long term diseases, which are the major cause of the 10 year difference in life expectancy between Māori and non-Māori.*
“If we can deliver an ‘early intervention’ platform that helps mobilise and empower whānau to ‘self-manage’, then as a collective, we can make a significant impact on the health outcomes for Whānau.”
Manaaki Hauora – Supporting Wellness campaign led by Counties Manukau Health and Ko Awatea.
So we wondered, how can we help? How can we use our skills and experience to help make health solutions easier for Whānau to find? This is the question we’ve been researching, thinking and exploring with Consumer Healthcare Products NZ (CHPNZ), the voice of the consumer self-care industry, and clients this year.
Research from multiple sectors shows that the connections that bind whānau together are the same connections that make health happen for whānau. Whānau Health Diary taps into this strength.
We’ve developed Whānau Health Diary to provide an effective way for businesses and organisations to support whānau to manage their own health, in their own way, by presenting the opportunities available to them, that put them in control.
We’ve blended together BrandWorld’s 25+ years of experience in engaging health audiences with the power of whānau to make more health happen for Māori and Pacific households. From ‘over the counter products’ in pharmacy to health services to treatments to education, we are bringing the skills we have at BrandWorld to connect whānau with the options available to them to support their health.
Our first Whānau Health Diary campaign focuses on Type 2 Diabetes and is fronted by well known Te Ao Māori news anchor and broadcaster Wikitoria Day in conjunction with whānau community members and community group The Aunties. The campaign has both Te Reo and English versions.
Our precision media approach ensures every dollar has a return on advertising spend (ROAS) with our tight regional targeting combined with contextual or interest overlays. Digital channel selection focuses on reducing fragmented reach and the carefully selected environments combined with our creative treatment is already achieving high engagement with our target audience.
